Hi, I'm Luke. sometimes known as Lenlow. That's me on the left there, about 5 years ago. Hey, redesigning websites is a pain. Anyhoo, I live in Boston. I do computer stuff for a living. My hobbies include making mashups and playing them out live. Go over to my music page for that stuff. Or hang out here and listen to me blog. Since most of my free time is music-oriented, that tends to be what I blog about. You've been warned.

There will be a special Mash Ave guest DJ at Toast on Friday: A Guy Called Guy. He's a rather experienced DJ/producer from New York City who has worked with artists such as Fatboy Slim, the Chemical Brothers, the Pet Shop Boys and Fischerspooner. I think y'all are in for a real treat.

As for me, I leave for London on Wednesday! I'm wiiiicked excited dude.

Katie was on London radio again yesterday; that was cool. DJ Riko used one of her vocals in a mix he made... and the result was pretty shweet. I'll put it on my music page once he goes public with it. I believe he'll also be playing it Thursday at Bastard. Huzzah!

I'm going out to lunch right now, so it looks like I'm going to miss out on LenlowLand's 100,000th visitor. Aw. What a long strange trip it's been. Like, remember that time I blogged about sports? And that other time I blogged about music? Good times.

Maybe when I get back from lunch it will be time to celebrate 100,000 people who came from a Google search.

I made a new tune... last fall. It was for the Janet Jackson bootleg album "Re-design of a Decade". But the project's finally been completed, so I can share the tune. I was assigned "That's the Way Love Goes". I found something that called itself an a capella version, even though it had bass and drums, and I ended up mixing it with Young MC's song "That's the Way Love Goes". No relation. I threw in some classic samples from War of the Worlds, and voila. Go grab it from my music page.

Also, a reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday) night is Mash Ave's monthly appearance at River Gods. Go subscribe to our weekly newsletter at MashAve.com to keep abreast of the latest news.

Oi! The large cat picture is still showing up on Google!

Thanks a lot, you liger looky-loos. My monthly bandwidth was exceeded yesterday, and I had to shell out some significant coin in order to stay up and running till March. But I'm getting my revenge... I removed the liger picture from the server. Eat it!

Google, Napoleon Dynamite, and Good Morning America, look what you did to me!

In the past half hour, my site has gotten 100 hits. 80 of those have been a Google image search for "liger". Would someone please explain to me what's going on? I've had a good number of those hits over the years, but why this sudden surge?

EDIT: Oh, looks like Google just started showing you a few image search results when you do a regular web search. And mine's #1 for "liger". But there's still something making lots of people wonder what a liger is...

I finished a new tune last night. On Sunday, at Uncle Tom's poker game, "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers came on the CD player. Joe said to me "surely you've used this?" and I said "no, but I should." (Yeah yeah, and don't call me Shirley...)

So I mixed it with Jackson Five's "ABC" and Naughty By Nature's "OPP". Go get it from my music page. It's called "ABC + OPP (Allman Brothers Classic + Other People's Pop)". Or rather, it would be called that if I had wanted such a long title.

Early feedback has people wanting to hear the rapping from OPP. Should I make another version?

I'm going to London!

In early March I'm headed out to the UK for a long weekend. Not for business, but for pleasure. On the Thursday is the mother of all mashup parties, "Bastard". I've always wanted to go to Bastard, and this seemed like a good time to do it; this month the featured DJ's will be Ohio's DJ Riko, and France's DJ Zebra and Loo & Placido. All of whom rock the casbah. I also get to meet a whole bunch of other GYBOers I've been chatting and working with across the pond, e.g. the other lads involved in the Chemical Brothers remix album. Then there's a gig Friday night "Get Busy" featuring Scotland's Dunproofin (with whom I'm splitting a hotel room). Then there's Buttoned Down Disco Saturday night, which looks like another great party. So that should be a blast.

Mash Ave was great on Friday -- our best crowd yet! Lots of unfamiliar faces, which is a good sign of the word spreading. So fun. And we've already lined up a few talented guest DJ's for future nights... more details as they develop.

Tonight... somewhere between 6 and 7 Boston time, you can hear Katie singing on the radio in Paris! DJ Zebra is playing my "Across the Air" tune (from Flip the Switch) on his OuiFM show. So if you're in cyberspace at the time, click here and then click "Ecoutez OUI FM en live".

Oh and at the same time, flip on NESN... you can watch game 7 of Sox/Yanks ALCS from last fall. I already saw that one, so I won't spoil the ending for you.

Whoa... check out Maps.Google.com. It's pretty excellent. Looks to be cleaner and quicker than its competitors, with some neato features like being able to drag the map around, map multiple locations, and search for a lot more than just an address.

Thanks for coming out to Mash Ave Friday night, y'all. I had much fun, as usual. Forgot to take a camera though (sorry Tom).

Does anyone have any suggestions for promoting the event better? We feel that lots of people still don't know about it, and that a lot of people out there would really enjoy it. A couple things working against us is (1) the venue's a bit out of the way, and not right on the T; (2) the venue was previously not open on Fridays, so doesn't have many regular Friday local patrons; (3) most people in the area don't know that mashups exist.

If you know people who might be interested, by all means spread the word.

In other news, we heard through the grapevine that the Chemical Brothers heard "Flip the Switch", and they said it was "wicked". That's all I heard (it's a big grapevine), but still... very cool.

Oh, and yaaaayyyyyyy Pats.

What's up party people. As for me, I've been busy looking for some new choons to play at Toast tomorrow. Say that reminds me: come to Toast tomorrow. Mash Ave, yo. We're hoping for our biggest crowd yet; the snow is melting, the word is spreading, and the club is jumping jumping.
