Few things...
First: Mash Ave tonight. River Gods. 9pm-1am. Be there! Second: I'm in the Globe today. There's an article about mashups, featuring me and DJ BC ('cause we're local and all). You can read it online here. But that doesn't have our vacant too-cool-for-school tough-guy stares in it. Here's the scan from the paper. Third: The Chemical Brothers remix album Flip the Switch is out there for downloading. Eddy Temple-Morris played my tune on London's XFM radio show "The Remix" on Sunday, and that was a delight to hear. He big-upped me and Katie! You can hear that bit here. Mega-mega-thanks to Will, Superdan and Lionel Vinyl, who were in the studio and saying some really nice things. (Would mega-mega-thanks be gigathanks?) Saturday, January 22, 2005
The first Mash Ave at Toast was a success! Thanks to all who showed up despite the cold... you are true troopers. I've updated MashAve.com with a set list and pics from last night. Some familiar faces in there! (Let me know if you want your familiar face off the interweb.)
Also note... we're spinning at the Rack Thursday night, at a tsunami benefit. I know, it's late, on a school night... but we'd love to see you. And the cat is out of the bag regarding this secret remix album project thingy. Here's the official pre-release writeup:Not content with the unprecedented international success of their last remix project, the team behind "Always Outsiders, Never Outdone", the "phenomenal unofficial Prodigy Remixed" album, have only gone and done it again. This time the Chemical Brothers latest album "Push the Button" gets the remix treatment and from Monday January 24, visitors to ChemicalBrothersRemixed.com will be able to download the album as they never expected to hear it before. Featuring unofficial remixes and mash ups by stars of the UK bootleg scene, the DJs behind "Flip the Switch" see the remix album as a natural part of the evolution of UK dance music. In a recent interview, Ed was quoted as saying "We used to make cut-ups or DJ mixes for ourselves to play. Bootleg culture isn't a new thing. It's something people do - take snatches from other people's records and make a DJ mix." The album is free to download from ChemicalBrothersRemixed.com. Fans are requested to donate to the Disasters Emergency Committee Fund to aid relief in South East Asia after the tragic tsunami on Boxing Day, through links on the site. Tracklisting: 1. Galvanise (cry.on.my.console's galvatron remix feat. Katie Enlow) 2. The Boxer (Fujikato's Unusual remix) 3. Belive (Belief, Elektric Cowboy) 4. Hold Tight London (Dunproofin's Follow Me mix feat. Katie Enlow) 5. Come Inside (FakeID's Elektrophunk dub) 6. The Big Jump (Backflip, Will Rokier) 7. Left Right (JoolsMF Shoot'em Up mix) 8. Close Your Eyes (Idiotech remix) 9. Shake Break Bouce (McSleazy remix) 10. Marvo Ging (Big Bad Baz) 11. Surface To Air (Across the Air, Lenlow, feat. Katie Enlow) I'm excited. Don't forget to tune into XFM Sunday at 3pm Boston time for a sneak preview. I've heard about half of these and they rock the funky joint! Thursday, January 20, 2005
Mash Ave promoted in today's Boston Phoenix
Cool article! Look for another like it in the Globe soon. And come to Toast tomorrow night! Mash Ave should be a rip-roarin' hoot and a holler. Oh and on Sunday afternoon, if you're looking for something to do before the Patriots whoop the Steelers, tune into London's XFM radio from 1:00 - 4:00 Boston time. On the show "The Remix", they're doing a half-hour spotlight on the upcoming "secret" remix album. Chances are good you'll hear Katie's voice. And maybe even the tune I made. (Some time after 3:00, I'm told.) Friday, January 14, 2005
The last couple days have brought some exciting news in LenlowLand.
(1) Mash Ave is branching out! In addition to the last Tuesday of every month, DJ BC and I will be spinning mashups at "Toast" in Union Square EVERY Friday night. We are very excited. (2) Yesterday a reporter from the Boston Globe interviewed DJ BC and me about Mash Ave, and about mashups in general. Look for me! (3) I was invited to take part in a top secret remix/bootleg project that will be released within the next couple weeks. I enlisted Katie's help and thanks to her crazy mad skillz, I made a tune I'm proud of... so watch this space for details.... later. (4) It looks like there's a chance I will get to go to Europe for work. Same reason I went to Japan and Korea last month. I am very excited about this prospect; we're talking England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy. But it's not a sure thing yet. But wow. It's been a good week. Wednesday, January 05, 2005
![]() It has been confirmed... Mash Ave will be a regular monthly gig at River Gods! So that's exciting. DJ BC and I will be spinning there on the last Tuesday of every month. Next up: Jan 25. Spread the word, bring friends, all that jazz. And thanks to everyone who showed up in November. Y'all helped make this possible. Monday, January 03, 2005
Here, read this mashup article in today's New Yorker. It's a good history lesson, and it mentions Mark V, the guy I met in SF.
When I was in Tokyo, that writer had emailed me looking for some info about me, but I think he quickly realized I'm not a major player. I wish I had given him links to a couple of my tunes instead of a link to my site. He probably didn't bother. Not that I had my hopes up or anything. Would have been something for the scrapbook though, eh? I mean, a reason to start a scrapbook. P.S. Happy new year! Oh, and merry Christmas too. P.P.S. Why do people always capitalize "new year" and "merry"? |
