Hi, I'm Luke. sometimes known as Lenlow. That's me on the left there, about 5 years ago. Hey, redesigning websites is a pain. Anyhoo, I live in Boston. I do computer stuff for a living. My hobbies include making mashups and playing them out live. Go over to my music page for that stuff. Or hang out here and listen to me blog. Since most of my free time is music-oriented, that tends to be what I blog about. You've been warned.

France lost to Senegal 1-0! They can still advance to the round of 16 if their other two games go well, but... wow. That's huge. France, the defending champs, were favored to win the whole thing this year. They did look a little flat today, but also were hindered by a great performance by Senegal's goalkeeper Sylva.

Also, I had forgotten that with the World Cup comes sweet soccer commercials. And today was no exception. I hope to see that commercial with the 3-on-3 cage match tournament a few more times this month.

I helped the people downstairs move this morning. Here's what I learned. (1) Sewing machines are heavy. (2) Pianos are really, really heavy. (3) The power drill is one of the greatest inventions of all time. It's up there with the wheel and Wendy's Monterey Ranch Chicken Sandwich. It's that good.

This just in, some Americans will be watching the World Cup games live! I wonder what bars near me will be open for the World Cup games... I may go get a pint of coffee at the local pub with me mates... if only I had "mates" that enjoyed the beautiful game as much as I do.

I have a fun web game to recommend: Hexxagon. It's a hexagonal version of the classic game "Attaxx". Capture the other dude's thingies by moving your thingies next to his thingies. Do it!

Great news: I am now gainfully employed. I start Monday as a "Consultant" for an e-business company... so to keep it in layman's terms, I'm still doing the computer stuff, boo beep boop. Looks like my schedule for the month of June will be wake up at 2:30 AM, watch World Cup games until 9:30 AM, and then go to work, and work until about 7 PM, and then go to sleep. Schedule subject to change, specifically when I come to my senses.

First game of the Cup is this Friday, 7:30 AM EDT. France vs Senegal. If you want to join my World Cup pool (it's free!) on espn.com, then click here, follow the instructions for signing up, search for the league "meat locker", and join with the password "meat".

WOW. What a win for the Celtics yesterday. Until yesterday, all 171 teams in playoff history to enter the fourth quarter up by 19 or more points had won their games. But last night the C's overcame a 21-point deficit in the fourth to pull off the win, and it was AMAZING to watch. They scored 41 points in that last quarter. Ack!

Sports sports sports sports... Shawn Green hit four homers yesterday. He's also the first person to go 6 for 6 and hit 4 homers in the same game. Surprising isn't it? Oh wait that is kinda hard to do. He tied for the most hits ever in one game, and set the record for total bases in a game (19).

Here is some real comedic genius... FOR ME TO POOP ON! Triumph the Insult Dog outside the premier of Attack of the Clones. It's a lengthy download, but well worth the wait.

Come join my fantasy World Cup pool on ESPN.com. It's free! The league name is "Meat Locker" and the password is "meat". (It's a long story.)

Fun game, for a little while: Nibblez.

I rented Led Zeppelin's "Song Remains the Same" DVD, and I just finished watching it. Those guys are amazing. They left out my 3 favorite songs, but still rocked the funky joint. It was all worthwhile during John Bonham's eight-minute drum solo in "Moby Dick". Eight minutes, literally. Arms flailing, two bass drums thumping, and the whole thing looking rather effortless. It kind of inspired me to get better.

My friend Nathan has requested that I stop talking about sports for one second and go back to linking to fun and/or funny things. So I surfed around a little today and this is what I came up with.

The most interesting links I found today were all animal-related. There's PWEETA, for example. Like I always say, if God didn't want us to eat animals, He wouldn't have made them out of meat. Or you could check out Sounds that animals make. Speaking of which, here's an article on the meaning of "meow". And then there's this curious article entitled "All I Really Need to Know I Learned by Having My Arms Ripped Off by a Polar Bear".

Check out the "Unexpected" catalog over at Hammacher-Schlemmer (gezundheit). Go through that drop-down list and there's a whole poopload of cool stuff.

100 Greatest Online Games.

Those crazy kids over at MIT have developed a kind of video... something... where they convincingly make people say things they never said. Explained slightly better than that in the article.

Calling all geeks... Enter this contest seeking the "best" web page under 5 kilobytes in size. (Tempting, eh Nathan?)

In the old days, I enjoyed making fun of all the other Wheaton math majors who would not stop flipping their pencils around their fingers. Take my brother for example. Maybe deep down I was jealous... at any rate, this site brought back memories. Horrible, horrible memories of sitting in class and learning.

There's a dude on our frisbee team who's been recording our practices and scrimmages with a digital video camera. Check out some of the highlight clips. (In case you were wondering, "Spam" is the name of our team.) You may as well skip the clips from the first practice because (1) you'll need to download a thing first, and even then the clips might not work, and (2) all the clips are of our team screwing up. There are a couple clips from the May 7 scrimmage that I'm in; look for "Luke".

Hello. How are you? I am fine. What have you been up to? I have been busy (and not busy) with a variety of things. For example, on Friday I had a job interview. I think it went well and we'll see what happens. I have REALLY been enjoying worklessness, but on the other hand I'm not going to pass up an opportunity as promising as this one looks.

Another event of equal bigness and goodness would be the scavenger hunt I took part in on Saturday, called "THE GAME". After describing it to several people, lengthy accounts have grown tiresome, so if you want details go to Matt's site. (Hey cool, I still remember some HTML. Just kidding, potential employers! My mind is a steel trap full of technologies and... stuff...) I've never been verbose, so it's best to defer to Matt in this matter. He will be giving an in-depth account of our teams' GAME activities over the next couple days, as well as some pictures. The whole affair was loads of fun, and because our team won the thing, we have the opportunity to host our own GAME some other time. Definitely cool.

What else have I been up to? Well there's frisbee on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; there's poker which happened last Wednesday chez Thom. Then there was Mother's (or is it Mothers') Day yesterday: Matt and I were good boys and treated Mommy to a great brunch (eggs benedict and creme brulee for me). (Does anyone else out there think I use parentheses way too much? Ellipsis too...) Other parts of my day are filled with eating, sleeping, surfing the net, e-mailing, instant messaging, watching movies, watching TV, and playing video games. And every chance I get, I hang out my new ladyfriend Adrienne. Some of you have heard of her, some have not... anyway she's great. She doesn't hold my geeky website against me, which is a good sign. Now let's she what she thinks about my talking about her on the site.

And now for the token sports poop, which I'll keep short: the Sox are still cruising along, the Celtics are a win away from advancing in the playoffs, and it's almost World Cup time. Yeeeeehaaaaaaa!

Tomorrow I fly to Columbus, Ohio to hang out with Lisa and sister Katie. Then Wednesday Kate and I drive back to Boston. (Don't ask, it's a long story. Well it's not really, but again... I'm not verbose. And again... parentheses... and ellipsis.)

PEACE

Good news: the Red Sox swept the Devil Rays. Bad news: they start playing teams that aren't awful now.

Sports Guy explains the Sox-vs-D-Rays experience very well. "With Abernathy on second, Tyner drags a bunt that pops in the air and gets caught in foul territory by catcher Doug Mirabelli. The Sox had the Tyner Shift going there -- all nine defensive players were standing between the first base side and the on-deck circle. Savvy move by Grady Little."

Mike Cameron... what a great guy.

Saturday, May 04, 2002
The Red Sox currently lead all of Major League Baseball in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Boston pitchers have the most shutouts, and the lowest (best) WHIP (walks + hits per innings pitched). The Sox have also lost the fewest games. Food for thought...

Last night the Celtics advanced to the next round of the playoffs by beating the Sixers 120-87. Pierce had 46 points. Dat boy's good! He da Trufe! Condolences go out to the Milliners, who just jumped on the Sixers bandwagon after their win on Wednesday night. There's always the Phillies! Who out there can name a Philly? I got Jimmy Rollins and that's about it. Oh and Bobby Abreu. "Abreeeeuuuuuuuu!" (Neverending Story jokes are always funny.)

Kentucky Derby today... anyone playin' the ponies? I think I'm taking a little break from the wagering. Daddy needs a new pair of shoes, but Daddy can wait till Daddy gets a job.

WOW. Mike Cameron hit FOUR home runs last night, all in the first five innings! Wow.

Yeah so I'm back from my road trip. It was a great time... I can't get over how quickly time flies when you're having fun (that is, when you're not working). Highlights: watching the Sixers-Celtics game outside, projected on the side of a building, from a bar's porch in Media, PA, reminiscing about the good ol' college days with Matt and Denise. Also, dinner and drinks with Fran, Jenny, MJ and Farah in the Big Apple. Lowlights: Foxwoods and Atlantic City. It may have had something to do with the casinos, I'm not sure.
